I do agree that eradicating poverty , hunger etc may propel us to take up civil services exams. When we look into the whole picture, we find that it is just a small part contributing to our decision. Its the desire to suceed above others, to have that capacity to make a difference to the society which makes us take the helm. Else there are various easier means to serve the society, why compete against 300000 lakh candidates for couple of jobs to do so.I come from a family, where many are from govt services.I have observed people in power closely. I have seen people ,who claim that they will serve the poor after becoming officers.Once they get the post, they forget their motive of writing the exam itself. So i am really wary of people advertising their desire to do so and so.Our main aim must be to become an impartial and honest officer, oblivious to political power .This is enough to keep up the integrity of the office we are planning going to.This is what India needs. In addition to aforementioned points, working to eradicate corruption from our system should also be imbibed in the minds of aspirants.
